Incident: On the 26 of March 2020, a full time worker was involved in an workplace incident where the was overrun by a Case Skid Steer loader. The worker sustained a notifiable serious injury to his pelvic area including fracture, disconnected bladder, deep cut to thigh, broken rib, fractured toes, cuts and bruises.
Alleged breach:
PCBU having a health and safety duty under section 19(3)(b)(f) of the of the WHS Act.
Non-compliance with respect to Regulations 213, 29 and 35 of the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2012.
Summary of undertaking:
The following are key commitments given:
- First Aid Training for the Director and WHSMS Audit of the Farm
- Director to facilitate a presentation on the importance of implementing a farm work, health and safety management system at an Agricultural Bureau meeting
- Produce a short video outlining the incident, what the Company has done since, highlight the importance of a sound WHS system, and bring focus to farm safety. This video will be available for Safework to use on their own media platforms.
